  1. Pressure cook the squid for 10 minutes with salt, 1 tsp red chili powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and 3/4 tbsp ginger garlic paste. You may have to adjust the cooking time based on the size and type of squid. Save the cooked water that is leftover for later use.
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Saute the onions until they turn pink and soft.
  3. Now add in the remaining ginger garlic paste and curry leaves, and saute till the raw smell goes off.
  4. Add the tomatoes and saute well.
  5. Next, add turmeric powder, red chili powder and coriander powder. Mix well.
  6. Now add little water in which the squid was cooked.
  7. Once it starts to boil, add in the squid too.
  8. Check salt and add accordingly.
  9. Cook closed for 5 minutes.
  10. Add in the crushed fennel seeds and chopped coriander leaves and stir.
  11. Serve hot with appams, steamed rice or roti.
