Paneer Kheema is an interesting dish to try when you have paneer at home. It is a must try dish if you are a spice lover. Soft paneer crumbles well coated with perfectly balanced masala. The true Indian flavors and colors are brough out in this scrumptious dish. It is a perfect combination with roti, naan or fulkas. You can devour some steaming ghee rice too, with this spicy side dish.

I used fresh, home-made paneer for making paneer kheema. You may also check the post on how to make paneer at home to make some healthy paneer at home easily. The minced paneer is then fried in masala mixture. I suated all the spices in oil, before cooking them. Hence making sure the maximum flavors are brought out. Paneer as such do not have a very strong flavor. So the spices added together with it lends taste to paneer. You may vary the spice levels as per your taste.

Instructions
  1. Heat butter and oil in a pan.
  2. Splutter cumin seeds.
  3. Then add in the cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, pepper balls and bay leaf.
  4. Saute for a minute.
  5. Next add the chopped onions and saute until they turn soft and pink.
  6. Add in the ginger garlic paste and green chilis. Saute well.
  7. Add to this, the chopped corriander leaves.
  8. Next add in the chopped tomatoes and mix well.
  9. Now reduce the flame and add in turmeric powder, red chili powder and corriander powder.
  10. Saute in low flame until the oil begins to appear on the surface.
  11. Now add salt.
  12. Next add in the grated paneer. I used home-made paneer, so I just crumbled to form smaller bits.
  13. Mix well. Check salt level and add more if needed.
  14. Add garam masala powder and mix well.
  15. Add in the sugar too to balance out the flavors.
  16. Cook covered for 2-3 minutes.
  17. Sprinkle lemon juice on top.
  18. Switch the flame off and garnish with corriander leaves.
  19. Yummy paneer kheema is ready.
