Mutton curry is a very delicious and easy curry to make. I often make Mutton Biriyani or mutton curry with Ghee Rice when guests arrive. This is the way that my Mother makes mutton curry, except for that I add a bit of garam masala powder towards the end, for that extra flavor. It is a very simple recipe and pairs well with ghee rice, roti, bhatura or naan. This mutton curry also goes well with Orotti (rice roti), Appam (rice pan bread), puttu (steamed rice cakes) or idiyappam (string hoppers).
Now have a look at how to make this flavorful and scrumptious mutton curry. First wash and clean the mutton pieces and drain the excess water. Heat coconut oil in a pressure cooker. Add the cloves, cinnamon and cardamom, and saute for a minute. Next add the chopped onions and saute until they turn soft and pink. Then add the ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw small goes off. Next simmer the flame.
And add the turmeric powder, red chili powder and coriander powder. Saute until the raw smell goes off. Next add in the chopped tomatoes and saute until they turn soft and mushy. Next add the cleaned mutton pieces and saute for about 5 minutes. Then add water and salt as required. Mix well. Pressure cook for 15 minutes on medium high flame. Then simmer and cook for another 5 minutes. Switch the flame off. Allow the pressure to release by itself. Next add the chopped coriander leaves and garam masala powder and allow to boil for a minute. Delicious mutton curry is ready. You may serve it with ghee rice, roti, bhatura, puttu, idiyappam or anything that you like.
