You may decide the level of spice that you want in your chili oil. And adjust the chili powder amount that you use in the recipe. You may use any odorless, not-so-strong-flavored oil for the preparation. I have used palm oil here. And a little of sesame oil.
First heat the vegetable oil and then saute the crushed garlic in it. Next, simmer and add in the red chili flakes and red chili powder. Then, saute for 1-2 minutes and then switch the flame off. As easy as that. Finally, allow it to cool completely and then store in air tight glass jars. It should stay good for a couple of weeks.
