Cajun spice mix is an interesting and very different spice mix. I have come across this new spice when we visited Barbeque Nation, one of the most popular barbecue chains in India. They serve a very delicious and flavorful Cajun spiced potatoes there. It is one of the vegetarian dishes that we all loved having. And since then, my husband had become the greatest fan of this dish. So I thought, why not try preparing some at home.
And my research on how to prepare the Cajun mix continued, until I came across Neha’s recipe at Whiskaffair. So I decided to try it today, giving it my own twists while preparing Cajun spiced potatoes. And yes, it was pretty close to what we had tasted at Barbeque Nation. Hubby dear too loved it, and I was super happy!!
Several spices are blend together to make this special spice mix. Onion powder, garlic powder, dried oregano, dried thyme, pepper powder and red chili powder are all mixed together (I did not use dried thyme this time). You may find onion powder and garlic powder easily at any nearby grocery store. To this, add salt and red chili flakes also. (The red chili powder that I use at home is powdered at mill. And hence usually mix the spicy ones and the colored ones equally. This gives the red chili powder the hotness as well as the color). Now mix them all very well. And store it in air tight containers. There you have, a perfect Cajun spice mix.
