Banoffee Smoothie – How to make Banoffee Smoothie

Banoffee smoothie is a rich, luscious and absolutely delicious smoothie that I have made recently. And we loved it totally. Have you ever tasted a banoffee pie? Are you mad over those tasty bites of bananas layered in between cream, caramel and crackers? Well, then you would definitely fall in love with this lovely smoothie.

Banoffee is basically bananas and toffee (or caramel). This combination of bananas and caramel is a match made in heaven, and hence divine. I just love it. You have to try it, and you’ll love it too.

So a banoffee pie typically has a graham cracker layer plus butter mixed to it to form the base layer. On top there goes layers of sliced bananas and caramel. The layers may repeat. This is then topped with whipped cream and dusted with grated chocolate or cocoa powder. So I have incorporated most of the ingredients to this smoothie, so that it actually taste, feel and look like a banoffee pie.

So the first step would be to prepare the caramel or toffee. If you already have a jar of caramel in your fridge, then it is awesome, and so half of the job is already done. To prepare the caramel sauce, take sugar in a pan and heat it. In another pan keep the fresh cream and milk to warm a little. When the sides of the sugar in the pan begin to change the color to brown, stir slightly, so that the coloring is uniform. Once all the sugar melts and becomes golden brown in color, remove from flame and add in butter. Swirl the pan until butter melts. Next add in the cream too and salt. Mix well. Now put the caramel back on flame and cook for another minute and switch the flame off. Allow to cool completely.

Now blend together the bananas, milk and 2 tbsp of the prepared caramel sauce until it forms smooth and creamy. Crumble the crackers and keep it aside. Now take two serving glasses. At the bottom, place a layer of the crumbled crackers. Add little caramel sauce on top of it. Next pour the cold banana smoothie over it, till half glass. Add another layer of the caramel sauce. Then add another layer of banana smoothie. Top it with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream. In this recipe I have used vanilla ice cream. Add the crumbled crackers, chopped walnuts and cashew nuts. And finish it off by drizzling the caramel sauce.

And there you have gorgeous glasses of banoffee smoothie. It is tasty, filling and healthy.
